Former Vice President Joe Biden at 6:00 AM officially entered the race for president, releasing a strong video titled, “America Is an Idea.”
He makes clear he’s running not against any Democratic primary candidate, but against Trump.
Just-released polling pitting Biden against President Donald Trump gives the former six-term Delaware Democratic Senator a strong lead.
Biden “leads President Trump by 8 percentage points in a hypothetical 2020 general election matchup, according to a new Morning Consult/Politico poll,” The Hill reports.
Biden takes 42% of registered voters, Trump takes just 34%, which shows that a portion of Trump’s base is at least on the fence. 19% say they aren’t sure yet.

And within an hour of his announcement, the former Vice President picked up the endorsements of two U.S. Senators: Bob Casey (D-PA) and Chris Coons (D-DE). Coons won Biden’s former Senate seat.
