The President and the First Lady will participate in a “joint fundraising committee roundtable” early Friday evening, and later will deliver “remarks at a joint fundraising committee reception,” at Mar-a-Lago. On their way to the Trumps’ Palm Beach resort and golf club, Mr. and Mrs. Trump will stop by Lee County, Alabama to tour the massive devastation caused by tornadoes that killed 23 people Sunday, according to his public schedule.
The president’s schedule for the rest of the weekend has not been released, but he is hosting at Mar-a-Lago another fundraiser on Sunday:
There is something perverse about the President of the United States spending just two-and-a-half hours touring a county where nearly two dozen people were killed by tornadoes, where countless Americans – possibly hundreds or more – lost loved ones, homes, businesses, or everything they own, then jetting off to an event at opulent Mar-a-Lago to hobnob with the rich and powerful, granting access to grab hundreds of thousands of dollars if not more.
Chances are President Trump will spend more than two-and-a-half hours at Friday evening’s fundraiser, but toss Sunday’s into the mix and he easily will have spent more time raising money for his re-election, the RNC, and likely other GOP politicians.
Let’s not forget: We are in the middle of a “National Emergency” at our southern border, as POTUS has declared.
