Speaker Pelosi: ‘I’m Not for Impeachment’

Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she is “not for impeachment” of President Donald Trump. The top House Democrat who is second in the line of succession to the presidency added that “unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country.”

The Speaker made her remarks in a sweeping interview with The Washington Post. She noted of impeaching Trump: “he’s just not worth it.”

“All the challenges we have faced, we can withstand anything,” Speaker Pelosi said, except, perhaps, two terms of a President Trump.

For context, here is the full quote from the Post:

“I’m not for impeachment. This is news. I’m going to give you some news right now because I haven’t said this to any press person before. But since you asked, and I’ve been thinking about this: Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country. And he’s just not worth it.”
