Trump thinks because Spike Lee is Black his speech calling for Black people to mobilize and vote was racist – it wasn’t.
President Donald Trump generally goes on a Twitter bender when bad news is expected in the Mueller investigation or other related issues, and Monday morning right on cue the President unleashed a tweetstorm exposing just how terrified he is.
Trump’s former personal attorney Michael Cohen will be testifying before Congress three times this week, including in two closed door sessions where he is expected to deliver new information about Trump’s business practices, opening the president up to further calls for impeachment.
Monday morning, Trump got an early start, attacking director Spike Lee whose Oscar speech didn’t even specifically mention President Trump.
The President went ballistic, calling the speech a “racist hit on your President.”
This was Lee’s speech. It in no way was “racist.”
Trump also attacked – and lied about – former Senate Majority and Minority Leader Harry Reid, who retired from the Senate at the end of his term, in January of 2017. Reid had sustained a bad eye injury in an accident, and after his retirement he announced he was battling cancer.
According to President Trump, Reid “got thrown out,” which is a blatant lie.
According to Media Matters’ Bobby Lewis, Trump – who is supposed to be “preparing” for his summit with North Korea’s Kim Jong-un, was likely watching “Fox & Friends” when he tweeted about Spike Lee. The Fox News co-hosts were only too happy to post his tweet minutes later:
