Dan Rather Delivers Brilliant – and Scathing – Viral Response to Trump’s National Emergency Admission

Veteran journalist and frequent Trump critic Dan Rather is not supportive of the President’s unwarranted declaration of a national emergency on the Southern border. Many, including Republicans, believe it’s an unconstitutional power grab that co-ops the rights of Congress, as enumerated in the U.S. Constitution, to control the nation’s purse strings.
Many were shocked and stunned last week when the President, in his wild and unscripted, nearly hour-long free-form speech announcing he was declaring a national emergency in order to re-allocate funds from Defense Dept. programs and use them to build his wall.
But what perhaps was most-shocking was Trump admitting, “I didn’t need to do this,” and announcing he was only declaring a national emergency to fulfill a campaign promise and to “speed-up” the process of building his wall.
In response, Dan Rather took to Twitter to prove just how ludicrous Trump’s remarks – and his national emergency declaration, are.
His tweet is going viral, with over 3000 likes and nearly 14,000 retweets in just two hours.
Take a look:
“I didn’t need to do this” is something I occasionally say after ordering dessert, not after ordering national emergencies.
