Cliff Sims is the author of the latest tell-all book about the Trump administration, “Team of Vipers.” Appearing on CNN Tuesday morning, Sims was given a rare opportunity: being on live TV as President Donald Trump was attacking him on Twitter.
In typical Trump fashion, he described Sims as “nothing more than a gofer,” and a “low level staffer that I hardly knew.”
Sims appeared a bit hurt but not surprised.
And naturally, Sims responded.
“Nice. There it is,” he told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota.
And then he offered a response certain to resonate with Trump supporters.
“Look, I knew that was a possibility when I wrote the book,” Sims told viewers. “I said my identity isn’t wrapped up in being a Trump staffer. My identity is wrapped up in who I am in my faith. Those are things that matter to me. I know who Jesus says I am. Don’t matter to me what Donald Trump or anyone else says.”
