Tulsi Gabbard Says She’s Running for President

Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii has just announced she is running for President.

“I have decided to run and will be making a formal announcement within the next week,” Gabbard told CNN’s Van Jones. “There is one main issue that is central to the rest, and that is the issue of war and peace.”

Congresswoman Gabbard is the first American Samoan and the first Hindu member of Congress.

Gabbard’s “2017 meeting with Syrian dictator Bashar Al-Assad drew widespread criticism,” CNN notes, as some questioned the ethics of her trip.
