Giuliani Makes Two Big Statements – Gets Immediately Slammed

Rudy Giuliani, the President’s personal attorney who has a habit of making wild statements, only to walk them back later, or lie and say he never made them at all, has just grabbed the news cycle with two big statements. And he’s getting slammed on social media for them.

First, Giuliani has reportedly told CNN that President Trump’s legal team, in what should be a highly unusual move, reached out to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s office over Buzzfeed’s bombshell article last week. Buzzfeed reported, and continues to stand by its reporting, that President Trump instructed his then-attorney Michael Cohen to lie to Congress.

CNN says “Giuliani, who is Trump’s attorney, would not provide further details about what they said to Mueller’s office. Friday evening, special counsel spokesman Peter Carr issued a rare statement rejecting the central claim in the BuzzFeed article, that Mueller has corroborating evidence (including testimony from Cohen) indicating Trump directed Cohen to lie to Congress about the deal.”

That’s not necessarily accurate. The central claim, many believe, in the Buzzfeed article is that the President instructed Cohen to lie to Congress.

Some on social media expressed concern.

Former federal prosecutor at SDNY:

Second, Giuliani has just released a statement refuting his bombshell remarks from Sunday, when he suggested or said directly that talks between then-presidential nominee Donald Trump via Michael Cohen, and Russia, to build a Trump Tower Moscow continued right up to Election Day.

Giuliani now says those comments were merely “hypothetical,” and suggests they were not based in fact.

But as MSNBC producer Kyle Griffin notes, “Giuliani explicitly told [the] NYT that Trump ‘recalls a series of conversations’ with Michael Cohen about the Trump Tower Moscow project during the campaign.”

Giuliani is know for road-testing positions, running with them, then pulling them back at the drop of a hat, making him a highly discredited actor.
