Trump Teases ‘Major Announcement’ About the Southern Border on Saturday–Will He Declare a National Emergency?
President Donald Trump, ever the showman, just teased he’ll make a “major announcement” about the Southern border Saturday, leaving many to wonder what he’s planning.
If it’s like many things Trump, even he doesn’t know what he’s going to say right now.
I will be making a major announcement concerning the Humanitarian Crisis on our Southern Border, and the Shutdown, tomorrow afternoon at 3 P.M., live from the @WhiteHouse.

Could it be Trump will declare his “national emergency”?
This HuffPost reporter offers one scenario:
Well, this could be it.
The assumption is he’d declare a national emergency, redirect money to a wall, and then Congress could pass clean funding bills.
Can’t say for sure though. The last time he did this it was to say Democrats are bad live from the Oval Office. https://t.co/wh20tox3XU

The national emergency declaration to build the wall — which has looked like the most likely end to the shutdown for almost two weeks now — probably won’t accomplish what Trump wants.
But it gets everyone out of a shutdown without anyone having to concede.

And as he has been the past few weeks, Trump framed it as a “Humanitarian Crisis.” Naturally, he is the cause of that humanitarian crisis, as we learn the Trump administration began separating migrant children from their families in 2017, not 2018 as they had told us. There are thousands more children who were separated than we first knew.
Whatever it is, the White House is sealed up tight like a drum and not talking:
