It took President Donald Trump about 30 hours to come up with a response to Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s letter rescinding her invitation to deliver the State of the Union, but his response is nonsensical gibberish.
“Due to the Shutdown I am sorry to inform you that your trip to Brussels, Egypt, and Afghanistan has been postponed. We will reschedule this seven-day excursion when the Shutdown is over,” Trump writes.
There is no evidence the President has the ability to control the Speaker of the House’s travel schedule, but he can control the military aircraft Pelosi and her delegation may have been planning on using. The Speaker could use commercial or private aircraft. The trip was not publicly announced and Pelosi has stated all Members of the House would be in D.C. due to the shutdown.
Here’s the letter, released by Sarah Sanders, which spells “Madam” incorrectly.
