Federal Judge Strikes Down Trump Policies Designed to Ban Asylum Seekers and Orders Them Returned to US

A federal judge has just struck down the bulk of President Donald Trump’s policies that were designed to ban migrants who are victims of domestic violence or gang violence from seeking asylum, according to The Hill. The change in policy was put in place in June under now-fired Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan ruled Wednesday morning the Trump policies are “unlawful.” He also ordered the administration to return to the U.S. asylum-seeking migrants who were unlawfully deported under the policy.
