After Taking the Fifth Roger Stone Is Now Fundraising Off Trump’s Tweet

Roger Stone is trying to raise several million dollars to fuel his legal defense fund, and now he’s using President Trump’s tweet to get more donors and more money.

On Tuesday Stone told Democratic Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein he would take the Fifth and refuse to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee. He also announced he was refusing to hand over documents she had requested.

Stone’s move came just one day after President Trump attacked his former personal attorney Michael Cohen, then immediately praised Stone for having the “guts” to not flip or testify against him in the Mueller probe. Many, including legal experts, see this as witness tampering and obstruction of justice.

But as CNN’s Jake Tapper noticed, Stone is now fundraising off Trump’s endorsement.

In an email from the Roger Stone Legal Defense Fund (Stone is reportedly worth about $10 million so it’s unclear why he shouldn’t have to pay for his actions), Stone asks, “Did you see what President Trump tweeted yesterday friend?”

The email includes a screenshot of this Trump tweet:

It also asks supporters to “help fight back” – by sending money.
