New Phenomenon – Similar Acts Never Committed in Obama’s or Bush’s Name
President Donald Trump‘s name has been invoked in at least 17 cases of violence, threats of violence, or alleged assaults where charges were brought. This appears to be a new phenomenon: according to ABC News, which conducted the study, no similar cases were found connected to Presidents Obama or Bush.
“Nearly all — 16 of 17 — cases identified by ABC News are striking in that court documents and direct evidence reflect someone echoing presidential rhetoric, not protesting it.”
Those charged with perpetrating the acts were mostly white men, “while the victims represent an array of minority groups — African-Americans, Latinos, Muslims and gay men.” More than a dozen of the cases involved minority victims or targets.
In addition to the 17 criminal cases, there are acts of Trump-inspired vandalism and other acts where no charges were brought, which were excluded from ABC’s report. ABC News detailed all 17 cases.
“In Grand Rapids, Michigan,” ABC reports on one of the cases, “while attacking a cab driver from East Africa, 23-year-old Jacob Holtzlander shouted racial epithets and repeatedly yelled the word, ‘Trump,’ according to law enforcement records. Holtzlander, who is white, ultimately pleaded guilty to a charge of ethnic intimidation, and he was sentenced to 30 days in jail.”
The White House after at least three days has refused to comment to ABC News.
President Trump repeatedly has refused to accept any blame, even after the cases like the man suspected of sending at least 15 pipe bombs to prominent Democrats regularly targeted by Trump. The man’s van was plastered with stickers of Trump, Trump messages, and bull’s eyes targets on those top Democrats.
