‘I Don’t Think These 2 Things Are Unrelated’: Internet Mocks Trump as DOW Plunges While He Talks
The stock markets are almost in free-fall, with the DOW plunging 552 points just today, wiping out all of 2018’s gains in a few short weeks. President Donald Trump spoke with reporters minutes ago during a rambling, free-form, stream of consciousness Q&A, and many could not help but notice how the market dropped, seemingly minute by minute as he talked – not that there was any actual direct correlation.
Trump addressed his formal White House statement of the assassination of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi, in which he effectively said that the money Saudi Arabia gives America is too important to risk over a dead reporter.
DOW Down 494: “It’s all about America first.”
“It’s all about America first,” Trump claimed, referring to what some have called his “grotesque” response to the Khashoggi killing.

DOW Down 538: “I’m not going to destroy the world economy.”
“I’m not going to destroy the world economy and I’m not going to destroy the economy for our country by being foolish with Saudi Arabia … I think the statement was pretty obvious what I said: it’s about America first,” President Trump says https://t.co/KbyedbHtrt pic.twitter.com/qRf1UMKsgz

DOW Down 565: “I have no business whatsoever with Saudi Arabia.”

On Twitter, some mocked Trump as the DOW plunged:
I’m watching trump talking, scowling and gesturing on the TV. (#SanityMute is on, of course)
And in the lower right corner of the screen the #Dow has dropped like 100 points since he began talking.
I don’t think these 2 things are unrelated…
