A federal judge has just rejected President Donald Trump‘s request to place a pause on the foreign emoluments case against him. Many believe the president is violating the emoluments clause of the U.S. Constitution by taking payment from foreign governments at his D.C. hotel and other resorts.
“The decision could pave the way for plaintiffs to seek documents related to President Trump’s D.C. hotel through the discovery process,’ The Washington Post reports.
“Bringing the case are Maryland and the District of Columbia,” The Associated Press adds. “Their legal teams have said they plan to move forward quickly with legal discovery, and will try to seek information and financial records that may include Trump’s long-hidden income tax returns.”
