Jerome Corsi, an associate of longtime Trump friend and advisor Roger Stone, is in plea agreement talks with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, “according to a person with knowledge of the talks,” The Washington Post reports.
Corsi, a conspiracy theorist and writer for the far right wing extremist website WND, formerly World Net Daily, “could bring Mueller’s team closer to determining whether Trump or his advisers were linked to WikiLeaks’ release of hacked Democratic emails in 2016, a key part of his long-running inquiry.”
Stone hinted at the release of the emails and newly-exposed email messages appear to show he had advanced knowledge of what was to come.
Cosi was at the forefront of the birther movement, which Trump tied into and helped pave the way for his presidential run. The Post reports Roger Stone “has said that Corsi also has a relationship with Trump, built on their shared interest in the falsehood that President Barack Obama was not born in the United States.”
Corsi previously has said he expects to be indicted.
