2 Weeks After Midterms Trump Announces He’s Already Hitting Campaign Trail Again – to Help Mississippi Racist

Trump Continues to Slink Away From His Duties as President

President Donald Trump‘s actual work as president has all but sputtered out, with at least one conservative commentator saying he’s doing the job he was elected to do just a few hours a day. In the weeks leading up the the November midterm elections, President Trump held a rally nearly every day, and in some cases up to two or even three a day.

All that traveling comes at taxpayer expense, and takes time away from Trump performing his duties as president. For whatever reason (some say rain) he refused to attend s historic ceremony in Europe marking the end of World War I, and upon returning refused to even visit Arlington National Cemetery to honor Veterans Day.

But the so-called “populist” president continues to make time to campaign and fundraise for his own re-election, and to help other Republicans.

Trump Monday morning tweeted his support for an embattled Mississippi Republican, Cindy Hyde-Smith (photo, with Trump), and announced he will be campaigning for her next Monday.

That event is one of two Trump is holding on the same day to support Hyde-Smith, who is in a runoff election which will be held one day after Trump stumps for her, November 27.

Hyde-Smith is the appointed junior Senator from Mississippi, and has exposed herself as a racist.

Several weeks ago she “praised” a fellow Republican by saying “If he invited me to a public hanging, I’d be in the front row.” Many have decried her remarks as racist, given Mississippi’s horrific history of lynching Black people.

(Two days later she accepted thousands of dollars in a donation from a “notorious racist.”)

If commenting (not joking) about lynching weren’t enough of a disqualification, last week she told college students she supports voter suppression – of liberal voters.

“There’s a lot of liberal folks in those other schools who maybe we don’t want to vote. Maybe we want to make it just a little more difficult. And I think that’s a great idea,” Hyde-Smith, a sitting U.S. Senator, announced.

Hyde-Smith will not only have the support of President Trump, but, as Politico reports, “the National Republican Senatorial Committee is expected to spend more than $1 million on a TV ad blitz bolstering Hyde-Smith ahead of Election Day on Nov. 27.”

She faces Democrat Mike Espy, a former U.S. Congressman who also served as a United States Secretary of Agriculture. Espy is Black, a fact not lost on those offended by Hyde-Smith’s “public hanging” remarks.
