Sarah Sanders: NY Times Report Revealing Trump Committed Fraud Is Just Proof He’s ‘Made a Lot of Money’

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders refused to offer any substantive response to Tuesday’s New York Times bombshell that Donald Trump committed “outright fraud” during her first “daily” press conference in 23 days.

Wednesday afternoon Sanders dismissed reporters’ questions, while falsely claiming that Trump’s father had complete faith in his son’s ability to make money – and saying that is the one thing the article got right.

Asked what is inaccurate about the Times’ reporting, Huckabee Sanders said, “It’s a totally false attack based on an old, recycled news story.”

The Times’ reporting is not recycled.

“I’m not going to go through every single line of a 14,000 word story,” she added, calling it “boring.”

“I will say one thing the article did get right was that it showed that the president’s father actually had a great deal of confidence in him,” Sanders told reporters.

“In fact, the president brought his father into a lot of deals, and they made a lot of money together, so much so that his father went on to say that everything he touched turned to gold,” Sanders said, apparently reading from a statement.

For those who have yet to read it, part of the report states: “The Times’s investigation, based on a vast trove of confidential tax returns and financial records, reveals that Mr. Trump received the equivalent today of at least $413 million from his father’s real estate empire, starting when he was a toddler and continuing to this day.”

Much of this money came to Mr. Trump because he helped his parents dodge taxes. He and his siblings set up a sham corporation to disguise millions of dollars in gifts from their parents, records and interviews show. Records indicate that Mr. Trump helped his father take improper tax deductions worth millions more. He also helped formulate a strategy to undervalue his parents’ real estate holdings by hundreds of millions of dollars on tax returns, sharply reducing the tax bill when those properties were transferred to him and his siblings.
