Despite being the person whose accusations sparked an investigation into Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s background, and prompted at least two other women to accuse the Supreme Court nominee of sexual misconduct, the FBI will not interview Dr. Christine Blasey Ford.
According to NBC News, it appears the White House has had a hand in that decision.
Via Twitter, two NBC News reporters state that “while Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s legal team has repeatedly reached out to the FBI, the FBI does not currently have plans to interview her. A source familiar with the matter says the White House feels her public testimony was sufficient.”
MSNBC’s Katy Tur moments ago on-air reported the statement word-for-word.
“This is not about the truth,” an MSNBC commentator just said on-air, referring to news Dr. Blasey Ford will not be interviewed.
President Trump claimed he had freed up the FBI to interview any person the Bureau deemed appropriate, but it’s clear the investigation into Kavanaugh’s background is still being extraordinarily constricted.
For instance, the FBI also will not be investigating apparent perjury Kavanaugh committed while testifying before the Senate. They will not be investigating Kavanaugh’s apparent drinking problem, bar fights, or even his alleged possible witness tampering.
