President Donald Trump didn’t waste much time reacting to the news Senator Elizabeth Warren is, in fact, part Native American, and on Tuesday morning started his day with a racist rant attacking her.
The President again used a racist slur, calling the prominent Massachusetts Democrat “Pocahontas,” twice. He also labeled her “a complete and total Fraud!”
Trump called Warren’s DNA test “bogus,” and “useless,” despite it being conducted by an expert, and – picking up on one website’s misleading take, claimed her Native American heritage is “far less than the average American.”
The President even falsely accused Warren of making claims that “have turned out to be a scam and a lie,” and said she “should apologize for perpetrating this fraud against the American Public.”
Trump promised to pay $1 million to the Massachusetts Democratic Senator’s favorite charity if she took a DNA test to prove her claim.
Now that she’s met the requirements, President Trump is backing away from his promise, which he made on national television.
Senator Warren is widely expected to announce a run for the White House in 2020, which would pit her against Trump. Some conservatives, like MSNBC’s Noah Rothman, are now wrongly appearing to suggest progressives did not like her attacks against Trump during the 2016 president election. Many progressives had hoped Warren would be Clinton’s running mate.
It seems clear Trump is afraid of a Warren run, and is acting early to try to turn Democrats away from her. The conservative media spent a good portion of Monday helping him with that goal.
