Trump Blames ‘Inaccessible’ Puerto Rico for Hurricane Deaths of 2975 – Internet Explodes

‘Are You Vasco Da Gama?’

President Donald Trump is doubling down on his message from Tuesday. The Commander-in-Chief reiterated remarks Wednesday morning, defending his administration’s handling of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico despite the massive loss of life.

“We got A Pluses for our recent hurricane work in Texas and Florida,” Trump said via Twitter. He is the one who gave out the A+ ratings.

The president added that his administration “did an unappreciated great job in Puerto Rico, even though an inaccessible island with very poor electricity and a totally incompetent Mayor of San Juan.”

San Juan, Puerto Rico is a two and a half hour plane ride from Miami. The mayor of San Juan, Carmen Yulín Cruz, appears far from incompetent, but in October of last year, a poll found just 32 percent of Americans thought Trump did a good job responding to the crisis in Puerto Rico. That was before a recent study found 2975 people died as a result of Hurricane Maria. Presumably, few Puerto Rico residents, many of whom were without electricity or even water for months, were contacted during that poll.

On social media, many mocked the president, while others expressed outrage.
