Kavanaugh Changes Story in Statement Just Released by Senate Republicans

Supreme Court Nominee Attacks ‘Far-Fetched’ ‘Odious’ ‘Last- Minute Smears’

Judge Brett Kavanaugh is changing his tune, and striking out against his accusers – now three women including one who came forward in a sworn deposition late Wednesday morning.

In a statement just released by the White House, Kavanaugh addresses today’s charges.

“This is ridiculous and from the Twilight Zone. I don’t know who this is and this never happened,” he says of Julie Swetnick, a woman accusing him of being present at the gang rape events.

In his scripted Fox News interview, Kavanaugh insisted he did not drink in high school.

He now admits he did.

Senate Republicans on the Judiciary Committee have just released written from Judge Kavanaugh, ahead of his testimony Thursday.

There has been a frenzy to come up with something—anything, no matter how far-fetched or odious—that will block a vote on my nomination. These are last- minute smears, pure and simple,” Kavanaugh claims.

He adds, “the truth is that I have never sexually assaulted anyone—not in high school, not in college, not ever.”

The woman who came forward Wednesday, represented by attorney Michael Avenatti, accused Kavanaugh and his friend Mark Judge of plying women with drugs and alcohol to incapacitate them, and at least being present during “train” of “gang rape.” She says she witnessed these events.

Kavanaugh confines his Judiciary Committee statement to the allegations made by Dr. Blasey Ford, and ignores the other two women accusing him of sexual assault.

And he admits to not being the choir boy he claimed on Fox News.

“I spent most of my time in high school focused on academics, sports, church, and service. But I was not perfect in those days, just as I am not perfect today. I drank beer with my friends, usually on weekends. Sometimes I had too many. In retrospect, I said and did things in high school that make me cringe now.”

His conclusion also appears to invoke the debunked “doppelganger defense” presented by the now-disgraced Ed Whelan.
