President Donald Trump’s military parade, scheduled for Veteran’s Day in November, has all of a sudden been postponed, just hours after CNBC broke the news the event will cost not $12 million as originally claimed, but $92 million.
The Pentagon made the announcement of the parade’s postponement Thursday night, Politico reports.
The nation’s military leaders did not explain why the parade, which has been in the planning stages for many months, was postponed, except to say they have “agreed to explore opportunities in 2019.”
Many Americans were outraged when Trump first suggested the parade, and many more were angered by the militaristic and nationalistic vanity project when the Commander-in-Chief returned from a Bastille Day parade in France and announced his parade was definitely a go.
Later, when Pentagon officials told reporters the cost would be $12 million, again, there was outrage. But by early Thursday afternoon, when news broke the cost would be nearly eight times the original projection.
NCRM reported earlier today there are an estimated 40,000 homeless veterans across the nation. Trump could hand each of them $2300 for the cost of his parade, a calculation that drew outrage on social media.
