Russia Is Mocking Donald Trump. Again.
On Friday the Russian Embassy took to Twitter, President Trump’s favorite home online, to poke fun at his new $8 billion toy, Space Force.
Thursday Vice President Mike Pence made the official announcement that the Trump administration will create a new branch of the U.S. Military, despite the fact that only Congress has the authority to do so.
Space Force, according to many experts, is not only not needed, it’s redundant.
Russia joined many in mocking it, taking the opportunity to share its logo for its own “Space Forces” while posting a link to the Russian government’s own “Space Forces” page. (Yes, the U.S. president chose a name that is all but exactly the same as Russia’s for his militarization of space agency.) It is Russia’s way of saying, “we did it first.”
Politico describes the logo Russia tweeted as “a graphic of a rocket being launched and features the Russian flag.” But NCRM research finds the logo is actually a sleeve patch worn by Russia’s Space Forces.
“Trump in an email asked supporters to vote on six proposed logos, which almost all include the phrase ‘Space Force,'” Politico adds. “One of the designs, however, has the phrase ‘Mars Awaits.'”
