Trump Went on to Become the Worst President on LGBT Rights in Modern History
Sean Spicer is out with a new book and unsurprisingly he reveal the then-candidate Donald Trump’s momentary support of LGBT people during the campaign was, as PEOPLE magazine calls it, “nothing more than empty payback for a political favor.”
Why was Trump so focused on the LGBTQ community for about a nanosecond during the 2016 campaign and why did he promise to “do everything” in his power “to protect our LGBTQ citizens from the violence and oppression of a hateful foreign ideology”?
Trump needed one last delegate’s vote to win the GOP nomination.
And once again, LGBT people were used. A means to an end.
One last name stood in the way between Trump and the nomination, according to Spicer: Washington, D.C. GOP delegate Robert Sinners.
“The book describes an alleged deal between Sinners, who Spicer says told the Manafort team ‘he wanted Donald Trump to support gay rights,’ and senior Trump communications advisor Jason Miller.”
“Jason assured Sinners that Trump would be the most ‘inclusive’ candidate the Republican Party ever had,” Spicer writes.
“This is your moment, Robert,” Miller told Sinners, according to the book. “You can deliver this.”
Sinners then reportedly signed “a form that officially removed his name from the petition,” and the deal was done.
Sinners apparently was duped. Trump got his vote, and LGBT people got screwed.
NCRM was not able to identify who Sinners is, but there is a Robert Sinners who started working in the Trump administration in May of 2017. We’ve reached out to that Robert Sinners but have not received a response.
Meanwhile, since Trump has become President, he literally has been, as NCRM reported earlier this year, the worst President on LGBT rights in modern history.
