On MSNBC’s Deadline Friday, host Nicolle Wallace tried hard to wrap her head around why it took so long for President Donald Trump to fire Scott Pruitt, the scandal-ridden former head of the EPA.
Reflecting on Pruitt’s tenure, Wallace said she was not impressed by the Republican Party’s inaction on the issue, given that Pruitt was under 13 investigations when he was forced to leave his post.
Sitting down with Republican Evan McMullin — who famously launched a challenge to President Donald Trump in 2016 — Wallace pressed the former CIA agent to explain GOP inaction and why Pruitt lingered on when there were other options.
“I’m sorry, the Republican Party sucks but you can still find non-criminal Republicans,” Wallace observed.
“Absolutely you can,” McMillan replied.
“Maybe,” the skeptical Wallace shot back.
