Internet Explodes as Trump Goes Full Orwell – Tells Vets ‘Don’t Believe the Crap’ From ‘The Fake News’

‘Oceania Has Always Been at War With Eastasia’
In a campaign rally event paid for by U.S. taxpayers President Donald Trump told a 118-year old veterans group to not believe the news reported by the mainstream media.
“Don’t believe the crap you see from these people, the fake news,” Trump said, pointing to journalists covering his speech to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Presidents addressing the organization historically have not delivered partisan, political speeches. Trump may be the first to do so.
President Trump then referred to a segment he said ran on NBC News that was so bad, that by the end he sarcastically claimed he said, “I’ve got to do something about this Trump.”

“Just remember,” Trump continued, “what you’re seeing and what you’re reading is not what’s happening,” which is a tactic of fascistic governments.

The outrage and fear on social media were palpable:
We were always headed to this place, but it’s still sort of surprising to get there. https://t.co/ya8IAcr9SR

Not all veterans of foreign wars hate the “fake news.” One vet just came up to me after Trump’s speech to shake my hand, thank me for my reporting and whispered, “I have one question: How do you put up with this bullsh– every day?” https://t.co/F39jBJBzXz

This is a shameful speech to deliver at VFW. https://t.co/9DonptXBeI

this is the most Orwellian thing I’ve ever heard Trump say:
“what you are seeing and what you are reading is not what is happening.”
