President Donald Trump didn’t praise the First Lady for traveling to Texas Thursday to spend about an hour in a Lutheran child internment camp. He didn’t thank her publicly, either. He did manage to start his Cabinet meeting, which was televised live, just minutes after the news networks had begun coverage of Melania Trump’s unannounced trip, cutting into her coverage.
But he did manage to weigh in on the trip in another way, the way he does best: by attacking the media.
The First Lady came under attack for wearing a jacket emblazoned with the words “I Really Don’t Care? Do U?” to visit the President’s child internment camps.
President Trump fought back, because of course he did:
Curiously, the First Lady’s communications director had told the media, “There was no hidden message.” Apparently she was wrong.
