Trump Just Said Ripping Kids From Parents Is ‘The Law’ and He’s Willing to Change It Today. Make Him.

President Donald Trump says he is willing to stop ripping migrant children from their undocumented parents at the border. He also repeated his lies, claiming separating children from their parents, even those coming to America to apply for asylum, is “the law,” and a Democratic law to boot.

That’s false.

Separating children at the border is a Trump administration policy, one that Attorney Jeff Sessions implemented, and bragged about it in a speech.

On Friday morning at a staged “unannounced” appearance on “Fox & Friends” President Trump once again falsely blamed Democrats for his own policy of ripped children away from their parents.

Talking about “separating the families,” Trump said, “that’s a Democrat bill, that’s Democrats wanting to do that, and they could solve it very easily by getting together, but they think it’s a good election point, I think it’s a horrible election point,” the president told Fox News’ Steve Doocy.

Doocy was only too happy to echo the president’s lie, saying, “Congress has got to change the law, but art the same time people say, ‘you rip these families apart, even though it is the law, that’s heartless.'”

“It is the law,” Trump again lied, “and that’s what the Democrats gave us.”

Trump is the President. He has total control overt he Republican-led House and the Republican-led Senate. If he wanted to, he could order the House and the Senate to create a bill to ensure families are not separated at the border, regardless of the reason for their entry into the U.S.

He refuses to do so.

And since it’s not a law but a policy, his policy, he could order the Attorney General to stop separating families.

“We’re willing to change Ange it today,” Trump says of his inhumane policy, “and we’re willing to change it today if they want to get in and negotiate.”

“They’re afraid of security for our country,” he falsely claimed.

So, if President Trump says he’s willing to change “the law” today, let’s make him.
