President Donald Trump has now chosen to accuse Canada of being a national security threat in order to support his decision to impose strong steel and aluminum import tariffs on the country that is America’s second-largest trading partner.
In a “testy” telephone conversation with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, President Trump falsely accused his neighbors to the North of having burned down the White House.
“According to the sources, Trudeau pressed Trump on how he could justify the tariffs as a ‘national security’ issue. In response, Trump quipped to Trudeau, ‘Didn’t you guys burn down the White House?’ referring to the War of 1812,” CNN reports.
