Top Trump Aide Marc Short to Exit White House

One of President Donald Trump‘s top aides and most powerful representatives in the media is exiting the White House. Marc Short, the Director of Legislative Affairs, will be quitting this summer.

Short “told his colleagues Friday that he’s resigning,” Politico reports. He’s “is expected to leave the White House in mid-July.”

That’s well before the mid-terms, and could wreak havoc on the Trump administration’s legislative plans.

Also reported this week is that White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is heading for the exits. She’s expected to leave by the end of the year, although would not confirm or deny her plans to reporters.

“Chief of staff John Kelly, Politico adds, in an amusing turn of events, “has spoken to the deputy director of the National Economic Council, Shahira Knight, about potentially taking over Short’s job.”

John Kelly is not well-respected on Capitol Hill, so that would be an extraordinarily contentious move. There have been rumors for months that he is on the way out.
