In Singapore a Jet-Lagged Trump Admits He Knows He’s a Liar

He says he didn’t sleep for 25 hours before he gave a rambling press conference at the end of a “historic” trip to Singapore to meet with a murderous dictator. Maybe that’s why President Donald Trump slipped up and admitted before the cameras he’s a liar.

“It’s my honor and we will have a terrific relationship I have no doubt,” Trump promised North Korean despot Kim Jong-un upon meeting face-to-face for the first time Monday night.

“He trusts me, I believe, I really do,” Trump told ABC News hours later, after the summit had ended. “I think he trusts me, and I trust him.”

In that 90-minute rambling press conference he held after meeting with Kim Jong-un, President Trump slipped up, admitting that he knows he’s a liar – while trying to pass it off as charming.

Telling reporters how he knows he can trust Kim Jong-un, a man who has repeatedly lied, a man who has slaughtered countless numbers of his own people while imprisoning hundreds of thousands, Trump shared a secret.

“Honestly, I think he’s going to do these things,” Trump said of the agreement he signed with Kim. (A remarkably unspecific and undemanding agreement being denounced by experts.)

“I may be wrong, I mean, I may stand before you in six months and say, ‘Hey I was wrong,'” Trump said.

And then he let it slip: “I don’t know that I’ll ever admit that, but I’ll find some kind of an excuse.”
