IG: Comey Violated Procedure and ‘Negatively Impacted Perception of the FBI’ in Clinton Email Probe

Former FBI Director Jim Comey violated Bureau procedures and “negatively impacted the perception of the FBI” in his handling of the Hillary Clinton email probe, the Bureau’s Inspector General’s report states.

“While we did not find that these decisions were the result of political bias on Comey’s part, we nevertheless concluded that by departing so clearly and dramatically from FBI and department norms, the decisions negatively impacted the perception of the FBI and the department as fair administrators of justice,” Inspector General Michael Horowitz said, as Bloomberg News reports.

Even though Comey’s actions clearly benefitted then-candidate Trump, the president is expected to use these findings to further attack Comey.
