WATCH: Trump Announces Withdrawal From Obama Deal Preventing Iran From Obtaining Nuclear Weapons

Historically Destructive Moment in American History

Calling Iran “the leading state sponsor of terror,” President Donald Trump Tuesday afternoon addressed the nation, announcing he is pulling the U.S. out of the Obama agreement to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

The president repeatedly called Iran “the Iranian regime,” and “a regime of great terror,” while attacking the Iran deal. Trump said the return of cash to Iran was an embarrassment to him as a citizen.

“America will not be held hostage to nuclear blackmail,” Trump said.

President Trump is using old documents revealed by Israel to suggest Iran is in violation of the Iran agreement. It is not.

Astonishingly, Trump says if he allows the deal to stand, “there would soon be a nuclear arms race” in the Middle East. That too is false.

In fact, Trump made several false statements in his defense of his decision to pull out of the deal.

“I am announcing today that the United States will withdraw from the Iran deal,” and begin reinstating nuclear sanctions, Trump announced at 2:20 PM EDT.
