‘Viewpoint Discrimination’: Federal Court Rules on Trump Blocking People on Twitter

A fedral court has just ruled it is unconstitutional for President Donald Trump to block people on Twitter just because he doesn’t like their political views.

The Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University, which also has one of the nation’s top journalism schools, posted a portion of Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald’s ruling to Twitter.

A University of Texas law professor calls it a “major First Amendment ruling”:

The court did not direct Trump to unblock or stop blocking people on Twitter, but it did rule it later could direct his social media director, Dan Scavino, to do so.

Judge Buchwald also took a swing at Trump directly, in what can only be seen as a warning and an attempt to set precedent:

She writes, “no government official — including the President — is above the law, and all government officials are presumed to follow the law as has been declared.”

Some rejoiced over the ruling, others were relieved, and some just want their rights observed:
