Trump Will Not Testify Before Robert Mueller Says Attorney diGenova

Former U.S. Attorney Joe diGenova says that President Donald Trump will not testify before Special Counsel Robert Mueller. The frequent Fox News guest who President Trump’s attorney Jay Sekulow recently claimed had been hired to represent Trump in the Russia probe, but had not, made the astonishing claim on “Fox News Sunday.”

“The president will not sit down for an interview because this investigation has reached a level of bad faith,” diGenova, who is said to occasionally advise the president, said Sunday morning. “This is no longer a good faith investigation.”

diGenova is a known conspiracy theorist who has attacked the DOJ and the FBI.

On Fox News he citied the FBI investigation into former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen, both of whom  had been raided by federal agents.

diGenova’s remarks could be a trial balloon to see how the public will react to the prospect of Trump refusing to testify. The move could bolster Trump loyalists but could force a showdown between Trump and Mueller, forcing the special counsel to back down or issue a subpoena.

At that point Trump might refuse to honor the legality of the subpoena, or find a way to fire Mueller.

diGeniova’s comments also come just two days after the president told reporters, “I would love to speak” to Robert Mueller. “I would love to. Nobody wants to speak more than me.”

Watch diGenova on “Fox News Sunday.”
