Trump Defender Wants to ‘Assault’ Reputation of Richard Painter in Explosive Off-the-Rails Interview

Sparks were flying when so-called Democrat Alan Dershowitz went on an attack against former Bush ethics chief Richard Painter.

Dershowitz has for many months been a frequent guest on cable channels, including Fox News, defending President Donald Trump while attacking Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Saturday afternoon was no different.

Speaking on the news that the special counsel interviewed Trump friend and real estate mogul Tom Barrack, possibly about collusion between the president and Russia, Dershowitz went on the warpath.

“Today, the worst place you want to be is a friend of business associate of Donald Trump,” Dershowitz claimed. “Prosecutors will stop at nothing to flip you and try to make you a witness against him.”

“There are two tragedies here. One the way the White House has behaved, and the second, the way Mueller – who has a mixed reputation, when I was in Boston, in regard to four innocent people, who spent their live –”

Painter, who is running as a Democrat for the U.S Senate from Minnesota, interjected: “That’s not true. You cannot say that about him.”

“Look, Painter is a zealot,” Dershowitz, an attorney perhaps most famous for successfully overturning the attempted murder conviction of millionaire Claus von Bülow, appeared to say.

“Do not assault his reputation – that’s just not true, he’s a good man,” Painter said of Mueller.

“Well, let me assault yours –” Dershowitz appeared to say. “Let me talk about yours.”

Dershowitz accused Painter of tryin g to turn “his anti-Trump zealotry into a run for the Senate. He has lied repeatedly about me and other Trump supporters.”

The battle got even more heated as the two men talked over each other in a free-for-all.

Painter went on to call Mueller “a good American.”

Dershowitz responded, “He may be but you are not.”

He then went on to accuse Painter of lying about his background.
