Melania Trump late Saturday morning returned from Walter Reed Hospital after spending five days recovering from a standard procedure that “typically has a one-day recuperation period,” according to an extensive New York Times report released Friday.
“Mrs. Trump’s recovery has been shrouded in secrecy by protective aides, citing patient privacy laws. But the silence comes amid an unusually long recovery period for a successful procedure that experts say is typically performed on a conscious patient and takes 45 to 90 minutes,” the Times noted.
The paper of record went so far as to suggest that perhaps the First Lady was no longer at Walter Reed.
“The West Wing would not say whether she remained at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center outside Washington. Neither would the East Wing,” the Times reported, referring to the First Lady’s communications staff. “A spokesman with the Secret Service declined to confirm the first lady’s whereabouts. And the public affairs office at Walter Reed did not respond to a request for comment.”
Just before 10:30 AM Saturday morning the First Lady’s Communications Director, Stephanie Grisham, released a terse, 45-word statement.
“The First Lady returned home to the White House this morning. She is resting comfortably and remains in high spirits. Our office has received thousands of calls and emails wishing Mrs. Trump well, and we thank everyone who has taken the time to reach out.”
Ordinarily, when a member of the First Family undergoes any type of surgery or medical treatment physicians hold daily press conferences to update Americans on the patient’s status, and to help educate Americans on the treatment.
But once again this First Family has refused to do so. Americans are still stinging from being lied to about President Trump’s health, first from his personal physician before the election, then after, by the White House Physician to the President.
