‘Liberals Say We Are Descended From Apes’: Far Right Defends Roseanne, Feigns Ignorance and Outrage
You knew it was coming.
The far right has rushed to defend Roseanne Barr despite – or because of – her racist and anti-Semitic remarks. Barr posted disgusting tweets Tuesday morning about former top Obama aide Valerie Jarrett, along with Hillary and Chelsea Clinton, and George Soros. But it was her attack on Jarrett, saying she is the child of the “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes,” that got her show canceled within hours by ABC.
Barr, before being canceled, apologized for her tweet on Jarrett, but not for any of her other vile remarks. (She has never apologized for the photoshoot she did years ago where she dressed up as Hitler pulling burnt “Jew cookies” out of an oven.)
Right wing activists and far right nuts went nuts as soon as ABC announced it was canceling the “Roseanne” reboot.
For example, there’s this from Ted Nugent, which is very likely idiotic and racist:
So Roseanne referencing a movie title is racist. Lying dishonest soulless freaks from Planet of the Apes

And Alex Jones wants Roseanne on his show:
Hi @therealroseanne, it’s time for you to strike back against these THOUGHT POLICE and really shake them up! You’ve been on the show before and it’s time for you to come back on! #Roseanne

Meanwhile, some on the far right tried to claim liberals were being hypocritical, while others feigned ignorance – or outrage.
Religious right Fox News radio host:
But it’s okay for Hollywood to disparage conservative women….#ToddStarnesShow

Here’s a top Trump supporter:
I’m not sure how saying someone looks like a child of “Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes” is racist.
I thought “Muslim Brotherhood” was supposed to be a “good” thing and Liberals say we are descended from apes?
What am I missing here?

Trump BFF and incredibly ill-informed pro-Trump college group head:
Wait, Bill Maher makes comparisons to Trump being a gorilla all the time?
They get classified as “jokes” by the media and he is of course allowed to keep his show and not have his life ruined
The difference?
Bill Maher is a liberal, Roseanne is a free-thinking Trump supporter
