BAD BEHAVIOR
Giuliani Just Planted a Dubious Claim on the Timeline of Mueller Completing the Trump-Russia Probe
President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, who repeatedly has made false statements, is now claiming the Mueller Trump-Russia probe will be completed by September.
“The office of the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, shared its timeline about two weeks ago amid negotiations over whether Mr. Trump will be questioned by investigators, Mr. Giuliani said in an interview,” The New York Times reports.
Given Giuliani’s recent remarks, and remarks throughout the campaign, there literally is zero reason to believe anything he says is true, accurate, or not a lie.
And in fact, the Times itself pours water on the former GOP presidential candidate and former NYC mayor’s remarks.
“Mr. Giuliani’s comments were an apparent attempt to publicly pressure Mr. Mueller amid their interview negotiations,” The Times makes clear. “He urged that the investigation be wrapped up as soon as possible, pointing as a cautionary tale to the revelation by the former F.B.I. director James B. Comey in the last days of the 2016 presidential race that he was reopening the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server. Mr. Comey’s announcement is widely blamed by Democrats for costing her the election. The F.B.I. found no wrongdoing.”
The Times goes even further, revealing Giuliani’s strategy.
“Mr. Giuliani sought to frame the outcome of the obstruction investigation as pitting the credibility of one man against another: Mr. Trump vs. Mr. Comey.”
In other words, this is more wishful-thinking/pie-in-the-sky from Giuliani, whose credibility is in shambles.
The Washington Post’s Robert Costa earlier Sunday unwittingly gave context to this dubious claim from Giuliani, via Twitter:
President Trump has been talking with Giuliani all weekend about next steps on DOJ/secret FBI source, Giuliani tells WashPost just now. Long chat by phone Sat night, another convo 6:30 a.m. Sunday…

In other words, after a weekend of strategizing, Giuliani is now planting stories in the media. There is no reason to think they’re true.
Chances area strong within 24 hours he’ll be forced to walk this back also.
On social media, many agree that Giuliani is a “liar.”
Can we PLEASE stop quoting Giuliani on what Mueller will and won’t do in the media-Rudy knows Mueller will not make public statements about the investigation and he’s taking advantage of it. Plus, he’s an established liar. Thank you. https://t.co/IuetDIIV5U

Is this a joke @nytimes? Giuliani is a degenerate liar and you are just taking his word for it? Especially, when he is transparently trying to pressure Mueller to finish the investigation on his/Trump’s timeline. https://t.co/GRJlFO8s37

Scoop? Rudy Giuliani is a pathological liar and Trump lackey. This is stenography not journalism. https://t.co/UJZHdZJgts

What’s so mind-boggling are the “journalists” who report these artificial Trump Mueller deadlines with a straight face.
They’re all over cable TV right now, writing stories, tweeting that the investigation will end by Sept 1 according to the liar & fool Giuliani pic.twitter.com/kG68v35KDU

Liar, liar, liar 🤥
President Trump “would testify tomorrow if it was about the truth. The truth is he had nothing to do with Russia… Martha Stewart never would have gone to jail if she hadn’t gone and testified,” says Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani https://t.co/6cFobJPFT7

I wish EVERYONE would stop repeating ANYTHING Giuliani says. He’s as big a liar at Trump.

Breaking News: Giuliani is an inveterate liar and the @nytimes should stop regurgitating his disinformation. https://t.co/1FkVG3S3PL
