White House Launching Campaign to Discredit Rosenstein

The White House is preparing a campaign that would rely on allies to deliver administration talking points to the media designed to discredit Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. The administration would like to fire Rosenstein, but cannot do so unless there is an appearance of him being unable to do his job.

“The plan calls on President Donald Trump’s allies to cast Rosenstein as too conflicted to fairly oversee the Russia investigation,” CNN says in an exclusive report. “Already, a number of Trump’s associates have called for Rosenstein’s firing in appearances on television and in public remarks over the past few days, but not all of them did so at the request of the White House.”

The news comes as several reporters today noted that Rosenstein was “spotted” leaving the White House:

“The White House is also hoping Trump’s defenders will paint Rosenstein and Comey as close colleagues and argue that Rosenstein is approving an ever-expanding investigation against Trump and his associates as retribution,” CNN adds.

Firing Rosenstein could make it easier for Trump to have Mueller fired.

The Trump administration may want to ensure their plan is foolproof, however:

Earlier today NCRM reported the Trump administration is also launching a huge campaign to discredit former FBI Director Jim Comey. Trump fired him last year. Comey’s book tour begins next week.
