WATCH: Sarah Huckabee Sanders Reads Religious Book About Jesus Rising From the Dead to Children

Sarah Huckabee Sanders was in charge of the Reading Nook at Monday annual White House Easter Egg Roll, and unlike past administrations, decided to make it a religious experience. Literally.

During the Obama years President Barack Obama and the First Lady, Michelle Obama, sat together to read age-appropriate non-religious books about the Easter Bunny to the children, who were largely from military families.

On Monday, Trump’s press secretary read “The Easter Story,” by Patricia A. Pingry, who has also authored children’s books on “The Story of Jesus,” “The Story of Christmas,” “The Story of George Washington,” and, “The Story of the Lord’s Prayer.”

Huckabee Sanders began reading “The Easter Story,” telling the assembled children, “When we celebrate Easter we remember that God gave us his son, Jesus Christ, to be our savior. Jesus made sick poke well, he even made the dead live again,” she read.

The book, as Sanders read, also says, “some people didn’t want to hear about God, they didn’t want to listen to Jesus.”

It ends by saying because Jesus “died for us we will all live too.”
