Last week Philadelphia police arrested two Black men waiting for a friend in a Starbucks before sharing coffee and conversation. They were arrested for trespassing after a Starbucks employee called the cops.
Viral video led to tremendous nationwide outrage and even protests. “Starbucking while Black,” is what some called the victims’ plight. Starbucks’ apology was too weak for some, and the company’s CEO met with the two men to apologize. On Monday he appeared on “Good Morning America.”
Starbucks has just announced it is closing 8000 stores across the country for an afternoon to train employees on racial bias in the hopes they will treat all customers equally.
The store manager of that Philadelphia Starbucks is no longer with the company.
