President Donald Trump Wednesday morning insisted he did not fire his former FBI Director Jim Comey over the advancing Russia probe. Trump fired Comey on May 9, 2017 – almost a full year ago, yet he’s still obsessed with him.
“Slippery James Comey, the worst FBI Director in history, was not fired because of the phony Russia investigation where, by the way, there was NO COLLUSION (except by the Dems)!” Trump tweeted.
But Trump did fire Comey over the Russia probe, and – as many on social media are reminding the president this morning, he even said he did on national television in a much-watched interview with NBC News’ Lester Holt shortly after the firing.
Twitter users mocked the president, and were only too happy to repeat his own words back to him.
