Trump Threatens to Veto Just-Passed $1.3 Trillion Spending Bill – Over DACA, Which He Ended
‘I Am Considering a VETO of the Omnibus Spending Bill’
In a ludicrous attempt to position himself as a champion of undocumented immigrants, President Trump Friday morning tweeted a threat to veto the bloated $1.3 trillion spending bill the Republican-controlled House and Senate rushed through this week. The Senate at around 2 AM passed the House bill, and were preparing to send it to the president’s desk to sign.
But Trump once again – falsely – is blaming Democrats for the death of DACA, the Obama-era program that protects some undocumented immigrants, despite the fact that he personally rescinded the program. Courts have said Trump cannot, so it now exists, but the DOJ is fighting to end it.
“I am considering a VETO of the Omnibus Spending Bill based on the fact that the 800,000 plus DACA recipients have been totally abandoned by the Democrats (not even mentioned in Bill) and the BORDER WALL, which is desperately needed for our National Defense, is not fully funded,” Trump tweeted.
Just yesterday Trump bragged that he got $1.6 billion to help fund the border wall he repeatedly promised voters Mexico would pay for.
Also yesterday Trump said he would sign the bill. A veto could shut down the federal government.
Earlier Friday Trump tweeted another attack on Democrats, falsely claiming they “abandoned” DACA.Â
DACA was abandoned by the Democrats. Very unfair to them! Would have been tied to desperately needed Wall.

Politico’s Jake Sherman reports Trump is wrong:Â
This is not what happened, per Democrats and Republicans on the Hill who were actually involved in the negotiations
They traded proposals, but they just didn’t get there. https://t.co/ayHwJrEtld

UPDATE:
From yesterday — OMB Director Mick Mulvaney: “Let’s cut right to the chase; is the president going to sign the bill? The answer is yes.” #omnibus
