Minutes after midnight President Trump posted a tweet bragging about the firing of former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe has been “FIRED,” and linking the termination to the other FBI Director he fired: James Comey.

Trump makes no attempt to hide the motivation behind the firing as he takes a victory lap via Twitter.

Andrew McCabe FIRED, a great day for the hard working men and women of the FBI – A great day for Democracy,” Trump posted. The FBI rank and file would largely disagree – McCabe was well-liked and respected.

“Sanctimonious James Comey was his boss and made McCabe look like a choirboy. He knew all about the lies and corruption going on at the highest levels of the FBI!” Trump chided.

There should be no question that President Trump ordered the firing of the number two man at FBI, after having fired his boss. McCabe was one of three senior agents at the Bureau who Comey told about his conversations with Trump. The other two are also gone: one was reassigned, one was forced out.
