Rick Scott Signs Florida Gun Bill (Video)

Scott Likely GOP Senate Candidate

Governor Rick Scott has just signed the Florida gun bill. Praised and criticized by Democrats and Republicans alike, the bill will enact a minimum age of 21 to but any firearm, it will impose a three-day waiting period for most gun purchases, but will also provide funding and law to enable teachers to be armed.

Known as the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act, the bill came in response to the Valentine’s Day mass shooting that left 17 people, mostly students, dead. Pressure from the student survivors and their families, along with grass roots activists and intense public demands for action left the legislature little choice in the end.

Florida state GOP lawmakers however initially did attempt to take no action, and refused to pass a bill banning semi-automatic weapons immediately before moving on to pass a bill declaring pornography a health risk, especially to teens.
