Trump’s New Husband-Wife Legal Team of Fox News Pundits to Defend Him Against Mueller May Already Be Out
CNN Reports Joe DiGenova and Victoria Toensing May Not Join the Trump Team
President Donald Trump’s top attorney leading his defense team against the Mueller investigation resigned this week, and in his place Trump reportedly had hired a husband-wife team of Fox News pundits known for advancing conspiracy theories for decades.
“DiGenova’s hiring was announced on Monday by Jay Sekulow, counsel to the President. DiGenova, along with his wife and law partner, Victoria Toensing, had a Thursday meeting with the President, the sources said. Even so, diGenova’s role, as well as that of Toensing who is also in discussions about joining the team, are in flux,” CNN reports.
But that’s not what Sekulow said earlier this week.
“Former US Attorney for the District of Columbia Joe DiGenova will be joining our legal team later this week. I have worked with Joe for many years and have full confidence that he will be a great asset in our representation of the President,” Sekulow had said on Monday.
This is what CNN reported Monday:

On Friday, this via a CNN senior writer:

And a CNN crime and justice reporter:
CNN: Joseph diGenova’s role, as well as that of his wife and law partner, Victoria Toensing who is also in discussions about joining the legal team, are in flux. After meeting on Thursday, Trump is not convinced they are right for the legal jobs. No one has been officially hired

Others placed the decision to not join the Trump team on diGenova:
CNN is reporting Trump’s new attorney for Mueller work is no longer convinced he is the right person for the job after a meeting yesterday. My god.
