“Does Anyone Think This is Fair?”
Donald Trump is clearly preoccupied with Special Counsel Robert Mueller‘s investigation.
While the president began his Sunday with his latest attack on former FBI Director James Comey and the recently fired former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, he subsequently turned to Mueller’s probe.
It was a return for the president, who ended his Saturday night by declaring Mueller’s probe a “WITCH HUNT!”
“The Mueller probe should never have been started in that there was no collusion and there was no crime,” the president tweeted late Friday. “It was based on fraudulent activities and a Fake Dossier paid for by Crooked Hillary and the DNC, and improperly used in FISA COURT for surveillance of my campaign. WITCH HUNT!”
“Why does the Mueller team have 13 hardened Democrats, some big Crooked Hillary supporters, and Zero Republicans?” Trump followed up early Sunday. “Another Dem recently added…does anyone think this is fair? And yet, there is NO COLLUSION!”
The attacks followed the president’s personal defense lawyer John Dowd’s commentary on the investigation.
On Saturday, Dowd confirmed that he was speaking on behalf of Trump (though he later walked the claim back) when he noted that he “[prays] that Acting Attorney General Rosenstein will follow the brilliant and courageous example of the FBI Office of Professional Responsibility and Attorney General Jeff Sessions and bring an end to alleged Russia Collusion investigation manufactured by McCabe’s boss James Comey based upon a fraudulent and corrupt Dossier.”
This week, Robert Mueller subpoenaed The Trump Organization, ordering the president’s company to hand over documentation related to Russia.
