Ever Wonder What It’s Like When America’s Children Train for an Active School Shooter? Watch This Video.
Thanks to the NRA and the GOP Lawmakers They Own, This Is What America’s Children Are Subjected To
After the Parkland massacre one of the first remarks many Marjory Stoneman Douglas students made was that they had trained for an active shooter. Around the nation schools increasingly have to train students what to do when there is an active shooter. According to Everytown, there have been 301 school shootings since 2013, “an average of about one a week.”
CNN reports this year, as of Thursday, the average is 1.5 a week.
But what’s it like for America’s children to have to basically train in a war zone?
TV news reporter Heather Hintze posted a video from inside an Alaska high school undergoing training for a school mass shooting.Â
“East High’s school resource officer fires blanks inside the school to simulate an active shooter,” she wrote on Twitter. “Training teaches students what gunfire sounds like.”
This is that video:

This is just a small portion of the traumatic events many students have to experience when training for an armed school shooter, because the NRA and the Republicans they control refuse to take appropriate measures to protect kids, including banning assault weapons, raising the minimum age for all firearms purchases to 21, requiring complete background checks and a waiting period, along with requiring gun safes, gun locks, gun training, and gun insurance.
